Kieran Myles-Andrés Tverbakk is a non-binary trans masc visual artist based in Minneapolis MN. Their current work is informed by their experiences existing within grey areas of race and gender. This series considers socio-political means of erasure by various forces: the self, systems of government, medicine, etc. By manipulating traditional techniques of painting and drawing, they create process-based abstractions that uncover the history and violence that has been imposed upon each canvas. Regarding the canvas as an entity (i.e. a body), the work serves as a performative exploration of reclaiming autonomy and a complex desire for both visibility & invisibility.
