Teresa Audet is a three-dimensional artist working primarily in wood, steel, and paper, specializing in furniture and functional objects. Located in the Casket Arts Carriage House in Northeast Minneapolis, the studio is open the first thursday of every month and by appointment.
My practice is based in craft, respecting material through proficiency and honesty in process. This may be executed through a hand-cut dovetail, the intricate weave of thin copper wire, or harvesting mulberries for dying paper pulp. Favoring thoughtfulness over haste, I employ a meditative way of working that is the connective thread spanning multiple mediums. Through this reverence of craft I am exploring my personal identity as a craftswoman and artist.
The act of object making supplies a cathartic function for me as a tool for emotional processing. As a result, my work serves as a visual diary; telling secrets between my inner thoughts and the objects produced from my hands. My work lives in the space between function and non-function and mirrors my own balance of logic and emotion.
